About Us

I’m the breeder behind Canyon Edge Acres. My family lives in the small farming community in Southern Idaho, where our dogs are very much a part of our everyday lives.  

I began breeding in 2017, and what started as a love for the breed has grown into a passion for producing healthy, beautiful, versatile Goldens. 

Our Program

Our goal is to produce well rounded Golden Retrievers who are just as capable of working alongside you as they are curling up beside you at the end of the day. 

Health, temperament, structure and breed type are all important to us. Our breeding dogs receive comprehensive health testing, and we also study pedigrees for health, longevity and genetic diversity when planning our litters. 

Health testing is only part of our breeding program. Our dogs also participate in conformation, field, performance, and other venues. We pursue titles appropriate to each individual dog to provide outside evaluation of the qualities we value in our breeding program.

Every pairing is intentionally planned with the goal of preserving the wonderful qualities of the Golden Retriever while continuing to improve upon each generation we produce. 

Raising Our Puppies

Our puppies are born and raised in our home as part of our family. 

From their first days of life, we use age appropriate enrichment and developmental exercises, including Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), Early Scent Introduction (ESI), and Puppy Culture principals. 

As they grow, our puppies are introduced to new surfaces, sounds, environments, people and experiences to help build confidence and prepare them for life beyond our home.

Temperament is incredibly important to us. Around seven weeks of age, we evaluate each puppy’s individual temperament, confidence, drive and working tendencies. We combine those observations with everything we’ve learned about each puppy throughout the previous seven weeks top help families choose a puppy that fits their lifestyle and goals.
